My creative sunny space!

We're having  a cracking summer so far!

I know I shouldn't say that, I'm probably tempting fate, and in a couple of days time I'll be reporting torrential rain!
BUT for now it's just too lovely to be indoors! so I keep bobbing out and enjoying the view of black hill.

Works quiet at the mo, so I'm getting on top of housey things and having one of my mad studio clear outs, ruthlessly binning hoarded paper and sketches of nothingness. I find it very therapeutic and I'm in the mood for out with the old and wipe the slate clean. I love change.

I found this old portrait I drew of Lil having a piggyback with Chris, I revamped it a little and plan to frame it for the girls bed room. It's different from the style of my latest piggy back print.

Lil was so content on Chris's back and while he walked and talked she just daydreamed and eventually nodded off to sleep!

I miss painting in this style and plan to do some portrait work in the summer hols of the kids.

Do you know, I've never done Sonny's portrait in this style.
When I had Lil I recorded everything, photographed and videoed every moment, smile, sneeze, poo, everything! With Sky not so much as time didn't allow because I was busy with Lil and jugging the two. Then when Son came along he just got whirl winded around in his babygro with the girls, in between rushing to school, dance & swimming. His routine was already set by one and two, not much spare time to sit and wallow in lovely mile stone moments. Not fair I know. but Son doesn't mind.

It's made him who he is, and his sociable confident character, older than his years, is due to this. So it's all good!
While I carry on my clear out, see more creative spaces at KOOTOYOO.

The kids went camping with Chris in Bakewell this weekend and I had the whole weekend to myself!
Yes, a whole weekend!
the freedom and space was sooooo appreciated.
Sky had made a note for their bedroom door as their bedroom shop was closed for the weekend!

I got everything ready for Holmfirth ARTweek next week as it was taking in day yesterday,

... and actually tidied up without turning around to see another pile of mess to clear up,  read my book in peace in the fab sunshine and generally had a very selfish freedom weekend to myself! Every busy mum should have a weekend like this, it's therapy!

Now I'm looking at the massive Ikea bag full of dirty camping washing and a sink full of camping pans and Tupperware wishing I could just go back to Saturdays leisurely no responsibility lovely feeling!

But as my cuppa says this morning...

my creative space...

... is glowing!

I've wanted to do a print like this for awhile, but hadn't planned to go into the print studio yesterday to do this print.
I'd planned to print some cards. But the day before I saw one of the mums at the bottom of the school hill, too pregnant to waddle up the hill in the fab summer sun we're having ( and she'd just been to the clinic for a 'strech & sweep'....nuff said! I had one of those before I had sonny, and it's not a Yoga move or anything to do with your chimney!!)

Despite her discomfort she was glowing, I mean really glowing! bubbling over with excitement that she would be meeting baby any day now. She kept stroking her tummy as babe kicked and I knew exactly how she felt.

And then I felt sad, that I'd never feel that again!
Never feel the little feet clicking on my ribs, never feel the hic-cups and watch my tummy jump, never feel that content glowing of never being on my own and chatting away to my bump.

So, I decided to do this print, for preggers ladies every where stroking their tummies and glowing!

The print is in my Etsy & Folksy shops and I think it's printed quite well, she almost looks angelic in her contentment!

just to let you know I've listed the 'Piggyback' print in my Folksy & Etsy shops.

I think this is my most favourite print I've done,
I think it's a mixture of it was a gorgeous sunny day, and the sunshine was streaming into the print room as I screen printed and everything went to plan, and,  that it's me and my boy!!
I'm going to frame one and put it up in Sonny's room!!
On the patch on sonny's knee there is a little cross stitch which I always do in real life and say, 'it's a little kiss from Mummy!' ...permission to put fingers down throat and make pretend sick noises! I may as well do it now, I'll not get away with it when he's 16!!

Fab Friday...

from this...

to this!

(Ignore the silly advert at the bottom, I don't know how to take it off!!)
I know which I prefer, the stripped down version that shows her beautiful voice off.
Have a fab Friday and a great weekend, wether it be chilled and mellow or full on dancing! enjoy!

my creative space...

I've had one of those days where I thought,  you know what,
I'm not going to work, the sun is shining , it's my better half's birthday,
and he is having to  work, so Nellie's to it! I'm having the day off !
And I'm going to  go to Sansbury's and buy a big chicken ( for roast chicken birthday dinner!!)  and cake ingredients and some new kids paints and wooden spoons!! as you do!

OK OK, the above picture looks, well...

I admit, maybe I should stick to the drawing board rather than the kitchen and I'm the first to admit I'm no domestic goddess, but it's amazing what you can do with a bag of Maltese's and a play Mobil chap!... it's Chris walking one of the 3 peaks surrounded by boulders and grass! ...but the green icing wasn't having any of it, so it's more green worms.... but hey! it tasted a lot better than it looks!!

And can I just recommend Jamie O's 'Perfect Roast Chicken' it was spot on if I say so myself!!!

Son & Sky had friends for tea too, so we all did a bit of painting out in the sunshine, painting wooden spoons to stick in the garden...

Meet Tallulah, Doris and Bod,

Hope you said 'Nellie's to it' today too, and if you didn't say tomorrow! life's too short!
See Kootoyoo for some creative loveliness!
